Evan Birtch

Evan Birtch is Director of Talent Acquisition and Candidate Experience at D2L, where he helps shape how the organization attracts and engages talent behind its mission to transform the way the world learns. D2L builds next-generation learning environments and solutions designed to inspire and support lifelong learners around the globe.

Throughout his career, Evan has led recruiting teams of up to 15 people and has moved fluidly between hands-on recruiting and leadership roles. He began his career focused on early talent and co-op recruiting before transitioning into technical recruiting and broader talent acquisition leadership. Known for his ability to deeply understand the work behind the roles he hires for, Evan often surprises technical candidates with how fluently he can speak about complex engineering challenges—despite proudly not having a technical background.

As a recruiter, Evan’s superpower is bringing job opportunities to life for candidates at every level by translating company needs into compelling, human-centered stories about impact and fit. As a leader, he focuses on understanding each member of his team as an individual—creating space for autonomy, encouraging projects that spark genuine motivation, and coaching recruiters to grow their skills while delivering against organizational goals.
