Maria Christopoulos Katris
Co-Founder and CEOBuilt In
Maria Christopoulos Katris is the Co-Founder and CEO of Built In, the AI-powered tech recruitment platform that attracts millions of professionals from around the globe each month. Built In helps more than 1,800 customers, ranging from startups to the Fortune 500, navigate the shift to an AI-driven candidate journey, tell their employer brand story, and convert hard-t–reach tech professionals.
In 2019, Built In closed a $22 million Series C funding round led by Updata Partners with participation from MATH Venture Partners, which at the time was the largest funding round closed by a female CEO-led firm in Chicago history.
In 2021, Katris overcame the company’s most formidable challenge to date — the global shift to remote work — and an aggressive national expansion. In one year, she led the company from serving 8 U.S. markets to 80, making it easier for companies to connect with tech talent across the country. Most recently, Katris and her team expanded Built In’s footprint globally, helping tech professionals around the world find meaningful work with companies looking to hire.
As a reflection of this commitment to growth, Built In has been recognized by two of the most prestigious honors for the “fastest-growing” companies: the Deloitte Technology Fast 500™ and Inc. Magazine's Fast 500.
Katris earned her BS from Miami University and MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Crain’s named her on its “40 Under 40” list, and she sits on the advisory board of Miami University's Altman School of Entrepreneurship.
